SABR KA FAL CHAI HOTA HAI - MBA CHAIWALA

MBA Chaiwala

Today, I will share a story with you to which I am personally inspired and I hope you will also get to learn something from this story.

This is the story of a young boy named, Prafull Billore. Like every other typical commerce student in India, Prafull also wants to crack the CAT exam to get into top B-schools of India.

He used to study for 8-10 hrs per day to compete with other aspirants. As Prafull tells in those days of preparation he used to remember nothing except CAT books and those cup of teas, even not his friends and families.

A cup of Tea

Prafull wrote CAT for three consecutive years but failed all the time, after his third failure he got completely broken. Then he decided he is not going to touch any of those books again in his life. He could not able to understand what he should do next.

He had read somewhere that whatever rich people are there in the US, they all worked in McDonald's at some point of time in their life. So with all such thoughts in his mind, he joined McDonald's as a sweeper. While working, he used to meet some new people daily to learn something new.

After working for some time, he thought why not start something of his own. But he could not figure out what to do. After thinking for a long time, Prafull remembered the best partner of his struggling days. Yes, I am talking about those cups of teas, which were the only friend of him during the preparation days.

Prafull wanted to open a tea stall but was afraid of what the father would think, what the relatives would think, that he went to do an MBA, and now selling tea. But finally, he decided to open his own tea stall. Now for this, he needs 10,000 rupees, but the problem is, what to tell his father to take this money he can't tell about the tea stall.

He told his father that he wants to do a short-term course and for this, he needs 10,000 rupees.

Wo kahte hai na- 'kabhi kabhi jhuth bolna achha hota hai'.

Finally, he took that 10,000 and bought some necessary utensils required for starting his tea stall.

MBA Chaiwala's journey

But wait, this was not the end of his journey. Actually, it was the beginning of his journey. No customer came to his stall on the first day, Prafull was thinking about what should I do next, then he thought If customers are not coming to my stall why not I should go to my customers.

Then what, he started looking for his customers and asking them "would you like to taste my tea?" People also started thinking who is this, who speaks English and are serving teas. people were also keen to know his story about how an MBA aspirant becomes a chaiwala.

And on that day he made 5 sales and the next day his sales were 20 and in this manner, his sales were growing consistently day by day. And that day came very soon when people used to wait for his tea stall to open. And very interestingly most of the people come to his stall by knowing his story.

Everything was going well and one day suddenly he receives a call from his father. And he asked him that you went to Ahmedabad, what are you doing there? And Prafull lied to his father that he is doing MBA.

And he decided to take admission in a local MBA college because of his dad. Now he used to go to college for 9 to 5 and sells teas from 7 onwards. After going to college for about a week, Prafull felt that nothing was kept in those boring lectures so he left college and continued his tea stall for full time.

He was doing his job so well that people around him doing a similar job felt jealous of him and they together throw him out of that place with the help of of some goons.

But wo kahte hai na- 'achhe log chale jate hai lekin unki achhai rah jati hai'.
Sabr ka fal Chai hota hai

His customers started calling him and asked him where are you nowadays. This happens only when you do your work with full honesty and passion. It had been 10 days for Prafull to stop the business but still, he was not able to forget all those things. He remembered how he used to serve his customers and how he thanks his customers with an innocent smile on his face.

In between all these thoughts, he decided to open his stall once again at a new place, so he contacted a hospital and take their permission to set up his tea stall in front of that hospital and he also assures them that he will pay rent for that. And finally, his business started running again.

He thought people would probably not come only for the sake of tea. So, he put a whiteboard in front of his stall and wrote on it that if anyone wants a job, put their contact no. here, And when someone comes who has some job opportunities with them they contact that person. And in this way he made his tea stall a platform from where people started getting jobs, some get businesses and even people started building relationships from his tea stall.

MBA Chaiwala is a platform

So in this way, he started building his brand. Everything was done but one thing was still left and that is to decide a name for his tea stall. He shortlisted 300 - 400 names for his business but almost all of them were already registered. So he thought if they are unique their name should also be unique. And he put Mr. Billore on board but people used to call him 'billionaire' or sometimes 'Billo Rani'. So he made a slight change and add Ahmedabad in it so, it became Mr. Billore Ahmedabad's chaiwala in-short MBA chaiwala.

He went on globally with his tea stall and organize social events and charity and at the same time build his brand awareness. And in this way, he did nearly 200 events across the globe in just two years. And the irony of the story is that NOW! this MBA chaiwala is called by IIM's and Harvard business schools to deliver a speech on how to pursue your passion and become successful and it all started with his failure to take admission to these top colleges.

Nowadays he made a crore business by selling teas.
